Noda
Turning data into decisions
Noda is a smart building intelligence platform used by large facilities teams to optimise space, maintenance, and energy performance. After years of growing a flexible, sensor-driven data product, the team saw a need to better support users in making decisions; turning complex building data into actionable insight for operations teams, not just analysts.

The new Solution Views and Insights features were designed to do exactly that. They surface clear recommendations from raw sensor data, tailored to real-world goals like improving air quality or reducing energy waste. By making insights immediately understandable and connected to impact, we helped shift the product from a monitoring tool to a decision-making companion.

Within a few months, we shipped the first set of views, validated them with pilot customers, and established a new foundation for scalable, insight-led product growth.

Learnings
Before this project, product decisions were driven by sensor capabilities, not user needs. I introduced and embedded qualitative research across teams, enabling regular discovery with users and experts. This was the first project to apply that practice end to end—from exploration to validation. It gave Product and Design a clear, objective view of user goals and shifted the focus toward solution-led thinking. This new framing also helped sales teams tell stronger, more relatable stories and unlock larger, integrated deployments.
Outcomes
This project marked a turning point in Noda’s product strategy, shifting from raw data outputs to actionable, user-friendly insights. By focusing on real operator goals and validating with early users, we increased clarity, usability, and product impact across the board.
Whole-product coverage
We were able to quickly launch solution views for air quality, electricity monitoring, smart cleaning and occupancy, covering the full Noda offering with action-oriented reporting
Strong feedback from users
80% of pilot users said they could act faster and more confidently based on the new views
Strong early engagement
2x increase in engagement across key views, with users returning more frequently and relying less on manual data pulls
A scaleable product architecture
Solution views enabled a scalable design model for rapid expansion to new solution areas, without reinventing core UI patterns
It transformed how facilities teams used Noda; less time decoding data, more time making smart decisions.
